GOWANUS

  • Before there was a canal, Gowanus was a thriving Brooklyn neighborhood nestled around a tidal estuary named after Gouwane, chief of the native Canarsee tribe. By the time canal construction was completed in 1869, the community had become an exciting hub of industry and shipping, mirroring the ascendancy of New York City itself. Today’s Gowanus is a bustling urban enclave of artists, entrepreneurs, and visionaries.

Voted 2015 Neighborhood of the Year by Curbed NY, Gowanus is New York’s most celebrated neighborhood and 365 Bond exists at the epicenter.

It is surrounded by an abundance of boutiques, eateries, bars, artisanal businesses, and unique entertainment, including rock climbing, fencing, archery, boating, concert halls and shuffleboard to name a few. There’s an activity to fit every attitude and every mood, as the spirit of Gowanus thrums with culture, intensity, and energy.

365 Bond has collaborated with a number of organizations and local groups including Arts Gowanus, The Gowanus Ballroom, The Gowanus Canal Conservancy, ArtsBridge, and Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club, and we’re just getting started.
